GEN-SHIM is a generic side offset adapter that should work with medium sized bottom loading MiniDV, Hi-8 and Digital-8 camcorders to mate with small to medium sized tripod heads. This adapter has a handy captive screw, and the adapter can be mounted to the camera by using a coin.

GEN-SHIM is not compatible with Canon HV10, Elura or Optura camcorders. One exception is Canon Optura Xi. For HV10, Elura or other Optura cameras, try the PROT-MINI or PROAT-MINI

Camcorders without an alignment pin socket in front of the tripod mount screw require the version where the alignment pin is not installed onto the GEN-SHIM.

The Minolta X-700 version is a special version with a different screw and without an alignment pin. This version is good for re-centering the threaded tripod mount hole on the X-700 and other still cameras that have an off-center threaded tripod mount hole.
